Book: The Disciple by David Sawler

Sawler, David. The Disciple: God’s Blue Print, Winnipeg MB, Word Alive Press, 2010.

The Disciple is a must read for every Christian. It is an easy to read 150 page book. I would characterize it as a back to the forgotten basics book. David Sawler addresses what it means to be the Church in terms Jesus modeled. What Sawler presents is Biblically sound and applicable to life. Perhaps one of the best books on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ I have every read.

One of the criticisms of much of literature on being “missional” is “how do we do it.” Sawler bridges that modern (program thinking) and the contemporary understanding that we need to “be the church. If you are looking for a 12 steps to discipleship book, this isn’t for you. If you are looking for a “how to be transformed” book, this is a good one.

There is a study / leaders guide available on-line too, making this an easy to use resource for small group studies, or should I say groups of disciples.
